We're trying to rebuild this?
From The Guardian:
How about we get the hell out of there and then nuke it from orbit.
From The Guardian:
There is a long tradition of young boys dressing up as girls and dancing for men in Afghanistan, an activity that sometimes crosses the line into child abuse with Afghans keeping boys as possessions.
How about we get the hell out of there and then nuke it from orbit.

Christopher Buckley is nuts
He actually wrote this, and was apparently being serious:
"There are two, stand-out original conservative thinkers in my generation, both, as it happened, named David — Frum and Brooks."

Happy Dependence Day!

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years." - Alexander Fraser Tytler
"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money." - Alexis de Tocqueville

Democrats Prepare “Slaughter Solution” To Ram Unpopular Health Care Takeover Through Congress Without A Vote
WTF?
So now our wonderful elected representatives in the Congress believe they can pass laws without even bothering to vote on them.
With every passing day, the USA becomes more and more like the old USSR...
WTF?
The twisted scheme by which Democratic leaders plan to bend the rules to ram President Obama’s massive health care legislation through Congress now has a name: the Slaughter Solution.
The Slaughter Solution is a plan by Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY), the Democratic chair of the powerful House Rules Committee and a key ally of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), to get the health care legislation through the House without an actual vote on the Senate-passed health care bill.
So now our wonderful elected representatives in the Congress believe they can pass laws without even bothering to vote on them.
With every passing day, the USA becomes more and more like the old USSR...

CHANGE: Obama to raise taxes on the middle class?
Obama on February 24, 2009:
"Now, let me be clear -- let me be absolutely clear, because I know you'll end up hearing some of the same claims that rolling back these tax breaks means a massive tax increase on the American people: If your family earns less than $250,000 a year -- a quarter million dollars a year -- you will not see your taxes increased a single dime. I repeat: Not one single dime. Not a dime."
- - -
Obama on February 9, 2010:
President Barack Obama said he is “agnostic” about raising taxes on households making less than $250,000 as part of a broad effort to rein in the budget deficit.

Now that's change you can believe in!

What do the Nobel Peace Prize and Seinfeld have in common?
They are both about nothing, apparently.
Great line from Ace Of Spades HQ:
Right now about 100 million Americans are wondering if they, too, might be announced as a Nobel Prize winner. Many of us, too, have done nothing.
Heh.

Absurd decision on Obama makes a mockery of the Nobel Peace Prize
The deadline for nominations was February 1, meaning the president was nominated after being in office for just 11 days.
"So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far," said former Polish President Lech Walesa, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983.

Hillary Clinton sends "greetings" to the people of Honduras
Rick Richman sums it up nicely:
Frightening.
Rick Richman sums it up nicely:
When your Supreme Court enforces your constitution, and your military forces obey their orders, and your Congress virtually unanimously chooses the successor president, and the new head of state is a member of the prior president’s party, and representatives of religious and civil society tell the Organization of American States they support the actions of their government, and the previously scheduled presidential elections will be held on time, in about two months, with international observers welcome, you have — in the view of the Obama administration — abandoned the “democratic path.”
Frightening.

Pat Buchanan
On Honduras:
Read the whole thing.
On Honduras:
Last Saturday, Honduran soldiers marched into the presidential palace, bundled up President Manuel Zelaya and put him on a plane for Costa Rica.
The ouster had been ordered by the Supreme Court and approved by the Congress, as Zelaya was attempting an illegal referendum to change the Honduran constitution so he could run for another term.
Will someone please explain why this bloodless transfer of power to the civilian legislator first in line for the presidency, in a sovereign nation, is any business of the United Nations, the Organization of American States, Hugo Chavez, the Castro brothers or Barack Obama? For all have denounced the "coup" and demanded Zelaya's immediate return.
Read the whole thing.

Voters Now Trust Republicans More than Democrats on Economic Issues
From Rasmussen Reports:
Will 2010 = 1994?
From Rasmussen Reports:
Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on six out of 10 key issues, including the top issue of the economy.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues, while 39% trust Democrats more.
This is the first time in over two years of polling that the GOP has held the advantage on this issue.
...
Voters not affiliated with either party now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues by a two-to-one margin.
Separate Rasmussen tracking shows that the economy remains the top issue among voters in terms of importance.
Republicans also now hold a six-point lead on the issue of government ethics and corruption, the second most important issue to all voters and the top issue among unaffiliated voters. That shows a large shift from May, when Democrats held an 11-point lead on the issue.
...
For the eighth straight month, Republicans lead on national security. The GOP now holds a 51% to 36% lead on the issue, up from a seven-point lead in May. They also lead on the war in Iraq 45% to 37%, after leading by just two points in May and trailing the Democrats in April.
...
Republicans lead the Democrats on immigration for the third straight month, pulling ahead to a 35% to 29% advantage on the issue.
On taxes, the GOP leads the Democrats for the fifth straight month, 44% to 39%.
Will 2010 = 1994?

BNP wins European Parliament seat
Story here.
From the article:
LOL @ Gordon Brown.
Story here.
From the article:
The BNP has won its first MEP in what is shaping up to be an historic defeat for Labour in the European elections.
...
Labour could be on course to dip below 20% of the vote ...
[Labour] lost 12% of its vote in Wales, where they were beaten by the Tories first time since 1918.
The BNP won its first MEP, Andrew Brons, after gaining more than 120,000 votes in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
...
The Conservatives won easily in the East of England, although their share of the vote remained roughly the same as in 2004 - as did that of UKIP, which came second and the Lib Dems, who came third.
...
Elsewhere, in the South East, with half the votes counted, Labour was trailing in fifth place behind the Greens, with Ukip in second place behind the Tories and the Lib Dems in third.
In Scotland, the Nationalists were outpolling Labour by a clear margin in the early results.
LOL @ Gordon Brown.
